About Alaska Survey Research
Alaska Survey Research, formerly known as Ivan Moore Research, was founded in 1996 to provide high quality market research services to our Alaska clients.
Over the past several decades, Alaska Survey Research has performed hundreds of quantitative research projects, ranging from short one or two question surveys to questionnaires up to half an hour in length. Alaska Survey Research has also conducted hundreds of studies of a qualitative nature, including focus groups and in-depth interviews. These studies have been conducted in all regions of the state, some statewide. Alaska Survey Research has completed meaningful research in urban regions like Anchorage, Fairbanks or Juneau, and in other regions of the state whether defined by political district, borough boundaries or zip codes.
ASR has conducted projects of a variety of sample sizes from 200 to as large as 4,000. ASR’s research product can offer a varying degree of complexity, from projects that simply measure frequency results, to others that use sophisticated statistical techniques to evaluate causal relationships between variables and establish findings.
Research and analysis has been conducted for a variety of clientele including; government agencies such as the State of Alaska and many municipalities and boroughs around the state, entities such as Anchorage School District and the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation, large corporations like GCI and Alaska Communications, as well as smaller organizations, companies and individuals.
Ivan Moore was educated at Magdalen College School, Oxford, and the University of Nottingham, England. He specialized in mathematics and statistics, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in 1986. Mr. Moore has worked in the market research field in Alaska since 1990, and with 29 years of experience in survey project design, management and performance is categorically the most experienced market research professional in Alaska.
His extensive background in the analytical sciences brings a knowledge that no other research provider in Alaska can bring, both of the market research business itself, and also of the processes involved in conducting good research – drawing appropriate and representative samples, understanding the impact of error rates on samples and subsamples, and providing accurate, relevant data analysis. Mr. Moore has a reputation as a scrupulously fair and impartial researcher.
ASR provides a first-rate product when a project warrants a highly analytical and sophisticated approach. The researcher’s job is not just to ask the questionnaire and report the results, but to analyze trends, evaluate significance and identify relationships. The Alaska Survey
Our flagship project is The Alaska Survey™. The Alaska Survey is a quarterly, statewide, multi-client public opinion research project conducted on a sample of 750 Alaskan adults aged 18+ around the state. The first Alaska Survey was conducted in March 2010 and we continue gather data annually through field surveys in March, June, September and December.
